Epguides Renamer

Note: I don’t support this program any more. I suggest you use TheRenamer instead.

Epguides Renamer is a program that renames TV episode video files based on data from Epguides.com. My goal is to have a program that lets you rename your files to follow whatever crazy format you want.

Instructions

Before you start, this program comes with no warranty. I strongly suggest that you backup your files before using Epguides Renamer. Although the program should stop if it can’t rename a file (and thus not lose it) I can’t guarantee it.

Run EpguidesRenamer. From the file menu select Start.

Select the folder that contains the video files you want to rename (e.g. C:\Videos\Scrubs\Season 1)

When prompted enter the Epguides.com key. This is the last part of the url when you’re looking at the guide on epguides.com. examples: Lost = Lost, The Sopranos = Sopranos, The West Wing = WestWing. In other words, remove ‘The’ from the beginning and any spaces and use capitals where appropriate. It will tell you if you enter in the incorrect thing.

You will then be presented with a list of seasons of that show. Pick the season you want to rename (you can only rename one season at a time)

You will then be presented with a list of episodes on the left and your files on the right. They are matched horizontally. Use the up and down buttons to move files up and down if your files are out of order. If you don’t have the full season of files (or have other files in the same directory) then use the delete button to remove either the episode from the left or the file from the right. The number of files on the left and right hand sides must match before you can proceed (obviously).

Next you will arrive at the naming dialog. This is where you can choose what format you wish to have. Click the preview button to see what the result will look like.

Click OK and your files will be renamed.

Once again, backup your stuff before trying it. No warranty, no guarantees.

  2. Awesome program, thank you very much. I’m sure I’ll get a lot of use out of it. I see you added support for 01×01 naming style…what about just “101″ style? So 504 for 5×04, 1219 for 12×19 etc (no trailing zero)…That is how all my properly named shows are set up. Is this something I could change by editing some text in a config file of some sort? Thanks again,

  3. It’s easy for me to add the “101″ style. Unfortunately it’s not done via a text file so it’s not something you can do yourself.

If you check back here in a few days I should have the next version up. (Or just keep using the program itself to check for new versions)
