You may have been wondering why all my Song of the Week posts have been youtube videos. The simple reason is that I’m not going to host mp3s because I don’t want record companies on their copyright crusades. I’ll leave it to other, much better sites to do that for me. They post new music stuff every day, anyway, which is much better than my weekly bursts.

So…near the start of the year I started getting emails from a record company trying to plug their bands by emailing bloggers of a musical persuasion (a group of which they obviously decided I was a member). I must admit that at first I thought it was spam but over the last few months they have been interesting to read and listen to their bands. However, there hasn’t been anything much that caught my eye (or ear) until now and I’m not going to post stuff I don’t actually like (what’s a blogger without some journalistic integrity?…….hah!). When someone sends me an mp3 that I actually like…well I can’t possibly refuse.

The Acorn

You may remember that I named The Acorn’s Hope Glory Mountain as the eighth best Album of 2007. I love a bit of indie-folk (with Elliott Smith, Sufjan Stevens, Iron & Wine being obvious examples) and Crooked Legs is the second single from their aforementioned album.
